The first free shiatsu workshop and school information session was held on June 6, 2010 at Canadian College of Shiatsu Therapy in North Vancouver. All 12 seats were filled. During the school information session, Chiharu Sato, the chief operating officer and general affairs department manager of the college, explained the courses offered through the college and received questions from the participants. The free shiatsu workshop was carried out for 1hour and half after the school session. It started with an introduction of shiatsu by a shiatsupractor, and moved onto a shiatsu demonstration. All participants performed shiatsu on one another for their first time and learned how to apply shiatsu to help each other relax their necks and shoulders. They all enjoyed the workshop and it ended as a big success. A gift certificate for the school clinic was given to the participants who had attended the entire session.
On June 11, 2010, our 2nd free shiatsu workshop and school information session was held at Japan Shiatsu Clinic in Yaletown. All 6 seats were filld. The workshop started with an introduction of courses offered through the college. In the workshop, all participants gained valuable knowledge. Some participants are professinal massage therapists and they are very appreciative and impressed with the uniqueness of Shiatsu.
On July 16, 2010, the third free workshop was held at Simon Fraser University in Surrey. Thirteen participants are gethered and all of them studied with intensity.
On July 29, 2010, our 4th workshop was held in Richmond. It became a smaller scale than the other locations; however, the participants were more serious and curious about shiatsu.
On August 18th, our 5th Shiatsu workshop was held at Cameron Rec Centre in Burnaby. Seventeen participants attended in the workshop. We received questions concerning the demands and recognition of shiatsu from the participants who hope to be a shiatsupractor in the future. After the school information session, all participants gained experience shiatsu from the workshop.
The last workskshop was held on September 8th at the campus of the Canadian College of Shiatsu Therapy. It was the second time in the location. There were an English teacher and a yoga instructor, who are thinking of a shiatsupractor as their new career in the future, attended in this workshop.
