Field
Work at Stress Free Event
organized by Family Services of the North Shore Feb.
1 '10
On February 1, 2010,
"a stress free event" was held by CAPC, Community Action Program for
Children in Partnership, with Family Services of the North Shore at John
Braithwaite Community Centre in North Vancouver. This event offered
healing and peace of mind to the residences of North Vancouver who
have children of 0 to 6 year-old. Around 20 residences participated in
the
event.
After a greeting by Ms. Julia from Family Services North Shore, the
event started with meditation by a counselor.
Students from The Canada College of Shiatsu Therapy
participated in the meditation
and they seemed to have gained focus for their shiatsu treatments which
will be
given later. After the meditation, the participants were divided into 3
groups
and a group discussion was carried out with the counselor. They talked
about the
common worry of the parents who have children of the same generation
and share their
feelings, and advised each other.
There were booths for reflexology,
aromatherapy and shiatsu treatment, and every participant experienced
the
various kinds of treatments. The shiatsu booth, which was set up with 3
shiatsu
chairs and 2 shiatsu tables, flourished and much healing and peace of
mind were
brought to the participants. Each participant was given shiatsu
treatment for
about 20 minutes by the students.
At the end of the event, there were feed-backs
from the participants, and most of them said that they want to visit
our
clinics to get shiatsu treatment again. These feed-backs probably made
the
students from The Canadian College of Shiatsu Therapy feel confident.
