The Video of Workshop

We had a great opportunity to hold the Shiatsu field work and workshop for the JETAABC members at the YWCA hotel in
Vancouver, on July 10, 2009. At the event, the students of the Canadian College of Shiatsu Therapy demonstrate 10-20min. table Shiatsu treatment to the JETAABC members. All of the participants were satisfied
with the Shiatsu treatment they received. Most of whom were first timers, even though they are familiar to Japanese culture. We asked to the members the difference between other form of therapy to Shiatsu treatment, they said it was a huge difference. The other forms of therapy were more kneading, where as Shiatsu were more like thumb and palm pressure.
After the field work, Yoko Abe, administrator of the
Canadian College of Shiatsu Therapy, instructed “Shiatsu for the sitting position” to the JETAABC members. Participants found the Shiatsu workshop very interesting and saw the effects of Shiatsu. The Canadian College of Shiatsu Therapy staff were impressed by the participants, who took the workshop seriously. Akiko Miyamoto, Shiatsu foundation class instructor at the Canadian College of Shiatsu Therapy, Jack Miro and Tetsuya Takahashi, both assistant instructors at the Canadian College of Shiatsu Therapy, assisted the participants individually to explain the detail of the instructions. After the workshop, there was no end to questions on how to do Shiatsu treatment among the participants. It was a huge success. Between the Field work and Workshop, Chiharu Sato, C.O.O of the Canadian College of Shiatsu Therapy, explained about our school.
After the event, the Canadian College of Shiatsu Therapy staff received a thanks card and present from JETAABC members.

About JETAABC

The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme, now in its 22nd year, is aimed at promoting grass-roots international exchanges between Japan and other nations.
No matter where you go in Japan
today, you will find JET participants developing strong relationships with their local communities through foreign language education and international exchange activities. After completing their time on the Programme, many former JET participants use their experiences in Japan to continue enhancing relations between Japan and their home countries.
The Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR) administrators the JET
Programme in cooperation with local government organizations; the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC); the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA); and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). CLAIR provides support for both JET Programme participants and their Contracting Organizations by arranging each JET participant's arrival, holding orientation seminars, as well as providing counselling and distributing a wide variety of essential resource materials and information.
The JET
Programme has gained high acclaim both domestically and internationally for its role in advancing mutual understanding and for being one of the world's largest exchange programmes. We hope many more individuals and regions will participate in the JET Programme during the 21st century so that even more progress can be made in the internationalization of our local communities.
JETAABC is the British Columbia / Yukon chapter
chapter of JETAA-International, the alumni association for participants of the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme. All of the participants have worked for at least one year in Japan as an Assistant Language Teacher, Coordinator for International Relations, or Sports Exchange Advisor.
