The second semester opening ceremony of the Japan Shiatsu College was held on October 1st, 2009. Kiyoshi Ikenaga, Chair of the Ikenaga Shiatsu International Holdings, and founder of the Canadian College of Shiatsu Therapy, was invited the ceremony, and gave a discourse on "Shiatsu Diffusion in Canada". Ikenaga sensei graduated from this school, and was licensed as a Shiatsu Practitioner by the Ministry of Health in Japan. Passionate and wanting to spread the knowledge of Japanese Shiatsu, he moved to Canada and established the Japan Shiatsu Clinic, Canadian College of Shiatsu Therapy, and Canadian Shiatsu Society of British Columbia in Vancouver. He has always been passionate of Shiatsu. Ikenaga sensei spoke about the differences of cultures and law in Canada and in Japan. He also talked about how he has familiarized Shiatsu in Canada, and how he has performed what Tokujiro Namikoshi sensei, the founder of Shiatsu, wrote in his book called "Oyayubi Ichidai". At the end of the discourse, there was a questions and answers session, and many students were interested and curious.
