Foundation 2009
About BC Cancer Foundation
The BC Cancer
Foundation is an independent charitable
organization that raises funds to support breakthrough research and
care at the
BC Cancer Agency. The BC Cancer Agency is responsible for cancer care
and
control for everyone in British Columbia.
About
the event
The Weekend to
End Breast Cancer benefiting the BC Cancer
Foundation unites with thousands of women and men to walk 60 kilometres
in the
fight against this disease. The participants raise at least $2,000 to
benefit
the BC Cancer Foundation and the BC Cancer Agency. In its first four
years,
this event has raised over 13 million dollars for the BC Cancer
Foundation. 100%
of all donations go directly to BC cancer Foundation. Proceeds from the
event
are invested in leading-edge breast cancer research, prevention and
screening programs,
as well as education, care and other critical breast cancer
initiatives. In
addition, BC Cancer Foundation pays for the costs of the event, most of
which
come from resources right here in Vancouver.
What's
Fieldwork?
Our students work
at public events treating patients under
supervision. They develop skills in taking medical history, treatment
planning
and Shiatsu techniques.
This was our second time
to join the weekend to End Breast Cancer Benefiting BC Cancer
Foundation as one
of the medical volunteer team. Our students took 10 min. FREE
Shiatsu treatment for the participants on the event. We provided them
therapeutic treatments and helped them to relax. Also, This
is a wounderful opportunity for us to the growing community!!
