April.5th 2007 Thank you for your interest in the Canadian College of Shiatsu Therapy. Whether you are undertaking the challenge of training for a new career or upgrading your existing skills, we have Shiatsu Therapy programs and courses to accommodate your needs. The Canadian College of Shiatsu Therapy’s 2200-Hour Shiatsupractor® Diploma Program represents the highest educational standard in Canada (and the entire English-speaking world) in the field of Shiatsu Therapy. This program provides a foundation which puts our graduates on the same level as practitioners of other well respected healing modalities such as Acupuncture. Classroom instruction combined with an extensive practicum makes our 2200-Hour Shiatsupractor Diploma Program exemplary. The full-time Diploma program normally takes 21 months to complete. However, we have revised our class schedule to make it possible for an ambitious student to complete the Program within the time frame of one to 2 years. For those who want to work harder and save the expense of additional time as a student, this is a viable option. However, we usually recommend full-time students to set a goal of completing the program within 21 months. Students registered in the part-time Program may take up to 4 years to earn their Diploma. For other Health Professionals this revised schedule provides an opportunity to gain Shiatsupractor status within a shorter period of time. For instance, Registered Massage Therapists of BC are eligible for the Shiatsupractor title upon completion of the 153-hour Shiatsu Foundation Course. Our curriculum is recognized by the State of Washington’s Board of Massage (under the Department of Health). Graduates can look forward to practicing in almost every country in the world other than Japan. There, Shiatsu is licensed by the Ministry of Health whose requirements stipulate that Shiatsu Therapists must have additional training in Anma and Massage Therapy. As the world of alternate health care expands and “spa culture” grows, it is an opportune time to take the first step toward a new career as a Shiatsupractor or Spa-Shiatsu Therapist. Please feel free to contact me in English or Japanese if you have any questions. I look forward to seeing you at our school, With regards, Chiharu
