Course Description
& Instructional Schedule
The Chair-Shiatsu Certificate Course is
a 7-week, 63
hour course. Students will learn
Shiatsu Theory, Self-Shiatsu Treatments and Chair-Shiatsu Treatments.
Classes will be held in
January, May and September.
Upon successful completion of this course students will receive
a Chair-Shiatsu certificate which is transferable to The
Shiatsu Foundation Certificate Course, or the 2000-hour
Shiatsupractor® Diploma Program.
Graduates are eligible to apply to the Canadian Shiatsu Society of BC
for membership.
Curriculum
Chair-Shiatsu
Treatment (10
and 20 minutes), Shiatsu Theory, Self-Shiatsu Treatment, Basic Medical
Knowledge and Terminology (42 hours) The definition of Shiatsu, how it
benefits the physiological functioning of the body and
contraindications to Shiatsu. Shiatsu Theory including History of
Shiatsu and its development. Introduction to Medical Terminology. Basic
warm-up exercises and counting to ten in Japanese. Self Shiatsu
including Regions of the Body and the 660 points in the full-body
treatment. Chair Shiatsu - 10 minute treatment, Chair Shiatsu - 20
minute treatment.
