The Canadian College of Shiatsu Therapy
participated in the seventh annual Shoppers Drug Mart Weekend to End
Women's
Cancers on August 14,2010 at UBC. This event was organized by the BC
Cancer Foundation to raise funds for cancer research. In
the past six years, the Weekend events have raised over $16 million
for [breast and gynecologic cancer research and programs at
the BC Cancer Agency. The eighth annual Shoppers Drug Mart Weekend to
End Women’s Cancers is already planned for August 13-14,
2011.] It was
a
pleasure to attend this wonderful event. We set a shiatsu
booth to
give shiatsu treatments to the walkers who had finished the 30km walk
and were going to walk another 30km the next day. Our students from
the Canadian College of Shiatsu Therapy gave shiatsu treatments to a
total of 60
walkers and donated $840 of the fees from the treatments to
the BC Cancer Foundation. We
appreciate the opportunity to experience the valuable and amazing time
with the wonderful people. 1,100
participants raised over $2.4million for cancer research in this
event.!!
